Hamersay House is ideally located in Lochmaddy for walking , one such example from the hotel is the Sponish Loop – an enjoyable exploration of the coastline of Lochmaddy, visiting a hidden camera obscura before heading through crofting land typical of North Uist.
Further afield there are beautiful unspoiled beaches on the west coast of the island, Clachan Sands, Sollas and Berneray are the favorites. Clachan Sands is the closest to the hotel, only 15 minutes drive.
Also close to Lochmaddy is the North Lee Hill Walk. This well signposted route takes in typical moorland where you are likely to spot a glance at Sea Eagle, Golden Eagle or Stage. The walk takes you past ruins and then climbs steady up the North Lee, along the ridge and down past of a WWII plane crash.
Ask our members of staff for recommendations of other beaches, walks and places to visit on the island.
